Overview and Responsibilities:
Location: Minehead, Somerset
Salary: £17,608.26 - £20,494.86 (FTE £19,033.00 - £22,152.00)
Hours: 40 hours per week - Term time only plus 10 additional days

Foxes Academy is an Ofsted outstanding specialist college for young adults with learning disabilities (18-25 years old). We offer training in independent life skills, plus the opportunity to learn catering skills in Foxes Hotel. The happiness, well-being and success of our learners is at the centre of everything we do.

The main purpose of the role:

As one of our Education Learning Support Practitioners your role will be to assist our students during a range of sessions within our residential houses, classrooms and at Foxes Hotel. Your role is to help achieve our mission which is to equip young adults with learning disabilities to find sustainable employment in the hospitality sector and to live independently.

Key Duties:
  • You will have high expectations of all students, and to constantly challenge and stretch each student at every opportunity.
  • To support the students in their learning, enabling them to reach their full potential.
  • To professionally and effectively support with managing student behaviour, seeking further advice and guidance where appropriate.
  • Support every student to make progress in each session under the guidance of the tutor, and to assist the tutor in ensuring this progress is recorded, evidenced and evaluated effectively and efficiently.
  • To be able to creatively produce resources that will support student progress.
  • Respect the privacy (confidentiality) and dignity of all students and at all times adhere to the equality and diversity policy.
Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Healthy and Social Care – Desirable but not essential
  • Experience in a similar role desirable but training can be provided for the right candidate
  • Experience in supporting in the care or education industry
  • Desirable an understanding of working with people with a disability
  • Level 2 in English and Maths
