Who we are
The Bible Reading Fellowship (BRF) is a Christian charity that is passionate about enabling people of all ages to grow in faith and understanding of the Bible. BRF resources the spiritual journey of individuals and the mission and ministry of local churches.
The role
Main purpose:Working as part of the editorial team in the creation of content, ensuring accurate, high-quality material, both print and digital, across all BRF’s areas of activity
Reporting to: Editorial Manager
Location:Home-based with regular visits to the BRF office, Abingdon
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: £21,000
Main areas of responsibility
· Proofread and copy-edit books, subscription resources and promotional materials for BRF’s different areas of work
· Upload, edit and proofread digital content for BRF’s websites and emailings
· Research new content for BRF’s Resource Hub
· Update and supply titles for reprint
· Create print-ready files and check printer proofs
· Create web sample pages and PDF downloads
· Check ebooks and apps prior to upload
· Supply files for ad-hoc internal and external requests
Skills and experience
Essential
· Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
· High levels of organisation and ability to prioritise a varied workload
· Flexibility and ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
· Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to achieve the best result
· A positive, can-do attitude, willing to ‘chip in’ to get the job done
· Ability to work undirected at times and to use initiative
· Biblical literacy and understanding of the Christian faith
· Strong commitment to the aims of the organisation
Desirable
· Proofreading and copy-editing experience
· Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
· Knowledge of copyright with regard to use of text, graphics, music, etc.
· Experience of working with a web Content Management System (CMS) e.g. Drupal, Wordpress
