You will join our Ecosystem Solutions department

As our new Ecology Manager you will be part of a specialist team including ecologists, nature based solutions specialists and ecotoxicologists delivering work in support of sustainable development, including biodiversity net gain, natural capital accounting and ecosystem services. We are a growing, ambitious and diverse team with a unique integrated approach; the team is a dynamic and friendly, delivery work for a range of clients.

Your Key Tasks And Responsibilities Will Be
  • Managing a team of Ramboll staff and subconsultants delivering ecological mitigation design and obtaining protected species licences for a major transport infrastructure project
  • Authorising and reviewing mitigation method statements and licence application forms
  • Delivering complex programmes on time and managing them to budget
  • Preparing costed service proposals for ecology work
  • Effective management of an ecology team in a multi-disciplinary consultancy environment
  • Client relationship management, liaising with clients, partner organisations and sub-consultants
  • Supporting the ecology team in liaising with Regulators, planning authorities and other stakeholders in obtaining consents and approvals
Your key deliverables over the first 24 months for this role will be
  • Developed sound working relationship with key client contacts including instigating regular co-working and progress meetings.
  • Made key connections with statutory nature conservation organisation contacts and counterparts across the professional network of engineering and environmental disciplines in Ramboll UK
  • Taken on responsibility for the management and delivery of a portfolio of ecology deliverables on a major transport infrastructure project
  • Become competent using Ramboll financial management systems appropriate to the grade responsibilities

  • Member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CEnv or CEcol desirable)
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively managing a team delivering ecological mitigation to an agreed programme including multiple protected species licences on transport infrastructure projects
  • Experience and good working knowledge of European Protected Species Mitigation Licence (bat and great crested newt preferable), Low Impact Class Licences and badger development licence procedures.
  • Appropriate BSc or equivalent qualification (MSc in a relevant environmental discipline is desirable but not essential)
  • Full clean UK driving licence
