The Wiltshire Council Landscape and Design Team is a strong team of ecologists, urban designers and landscape architects who are committed to protecting our unique and cherished built and natural environment. Leading on innovative nature based solutions and focussed on reversing biodiversity loss.

About The Role

This role could be based at Trowbridge, Chippenham or Salisbury (Flexible)

As an experienced ecologist you will predominately review and provide expert advice on planning applications and review emerging neighbourhood plans, while also supporting the development of spatial planning documents and helping to inform the design of major development projects.

Whilst mostly office based, some site visits will be required to assess application sites and carry out monitoring of development sites. The role requires working with a wide range of stakeholders including planners, other specialists, developers, agents, consultants, statutory bodies, elected members and the public.

About You

You will be solution focussed, comfortable with working independently as well as being part of a team, and able to communicate clearly and negotiate confidently.

You will have a strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and a good understanding of the planning system. Whilst experience working in local government or public body would be advantageous, this role would be an excellent opportunity for an individual from private sector to gain valuable experience in the public sector.
