Preschool is recruiting for 2 roles:

1 x Mon-Fri 8.30am - 3.30pm

1 x 2 days per week 8.45am - 3.15pm

Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience and childcare qualifications. We will only contact candidates invited to interview. Thank you.

Roles are recruited on a temporary basis initially with a view to being made permanent. There is a standard 6 month probationary period.

Job description:

Mickle Trafford Preschool are looking for enthusiastic early years educators (practitioners) with a passion for child led learning and who are not afraid to get a little muddy! Duties will include, but not limited to, enhancing children’s learning as they play particularly through in-the-moment planning, being a key worker and participating in the day to day running of Preschool. We are very passionate about Early Years and would love someone that shares our vision.

Line manager:Preschool Manager

Responsible for:Children

Working relationships: Children attending the Preschool and their parents or carers, management and Committee, students and volunteers, registering authorities, CWAC, Ofsted.

Main duties include:

  • In-the-moment planning, preparing and delivering quality education opportunities within a safe and caring environment. Creating ‘invitations to play’.
  • Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
  • Key person for a range of children
  • Providing comprehensive care for the children while in the Preschool’s care.
  • Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
  • Due to Coronavirus, there is a stringent cleaning regime throughout the day to keep children and staff as safe as possible. Staff members will be required to undertake cleaning duties above what would normally be expected pre-pandemic
  • Administering first aid when necessary.
  • To work with all aspects of the Early Years Framework.
  • Administration and record keeping.
  • Encouraging parental involvement in the Preschool.
  • Developing and maintaining good communication with all members of the company, parents, schools, CWAC and Ofsted.
  • Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
  • Monitoring and maintaining a healthy, safe and secure working environment.
  • Working within the framework of the Preschool’s policies and procedures.
  • To undertake supervision meetings with your line Manager and complete peer observations on staff within your team.
  • Observing and assessing children’s development and progress.
  • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team
  • Liaise with and support parents and other family members
  • To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, staff meetings, fundraising events etc.
  • To be flexible within working practices of the Preschool. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the preschool, e.g. preparation of snack, cleansing of equipment etc.
  • To advise the Preschool Manager of any concerns e.g. over children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
  • To ensure that children are kept safe and that you understand when to follow child protection procedures.
  • To support meal times within the setting.

Essential qualities:

Preferred Qualities:

  • Experience of working with 2 to 4 year olds
  • Delivering equal opportunities in a play setting
  • Awareness of needs of children and families
  • Level 3 preferred but Level 2 qualification acceptable
  • Appropriate safeguarding training
  • Ability to provide and facilitate safe and creative education
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • An understanding of play-based approaches to children’s learning and development
  • Sound knowledge of child development
  • Able to travel to Preschool easily (if not from the immediate area, own transport may be essential)
