Job description

We’re looking for a Duty Manager to join our team at the The All England Lawn Tennis Club Community Tennis Centre in Raynes Park.

What you will be doing

  • Providing excellent ‘front of house’ customer service; welcoming players and visitors, receiving deliveries and answering routine enquiries

  • Supporting the registration of new customers taking bookings and payments for bookings, processing refunds and other administrative support

  • Undertaking daily site inspections including a shared responsibility for the site opening and closing procedures

  • Liaising and communicating with various internal stakeholders including: Security, Cleaning, Groundstaff, Estate Management, administrative team and coaches

  • End to end management of court bookings including – making, amending and cancelling bookings for courts, courses and private lessons and taking payments from guests and processing refunds

  • Providing support for first aid incidents and emergencies and fully complying with relevant health and safety policies and procedures

  • Understanding and awareness of the AELTC Child Protection Policy and Guidelines

What part your role will play in The Championships

  • In the period prior to, and during, The Championships the Community Tennis Centre hosts practice for players competing in The Championships.

  • The Centre provides facilities for Club Members when the Club is closed for The Championships.

  • In the build up to The Championships the Centre supports the Commercial team as a venue for AELTC Partner activation activity.

About you

  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to professionally answer queries and resolve problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships and communicate effectively
  • Experience of both working independently and part of a team
  • Pro-active, organised, efficient, professional, reliable, able to meet deadlines with a positive and flexible approach
  • Proven skills and experience relating to CRM and booking systems
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to Intermediate level
  • Experience of working in a sports centre or tennis facility and interest in tennis

The All England Lawn Tennis Club (Championships) Limited (AELTC) organises and stages The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, widely regarded as the world’s premier tennis tournament and is home to one of the world’s most prestigious tennis clubs.

The Community Tennis Department’s role is to develop and evolve the All England Club’s Community Tennis footprint, through the development of its Community Sports Ground at Raynes Park. The Centre’s tennis facilities include 16 grass courts, 6 indoor courts and 3 outdoor courts. At the Eastern end of the ground there are sports pitches which will be available for hire by local community groups.

Future plans include the construction of Clubhouse and ancillary facilities to support the use of the courts and pitches. As well as programming it is anticipated that tournaments and events may be hosted at the Centre.

The Community Tennis Centre hosts over 300 junior players playing Monday to Sunday, over 150 Adults participating in coaching and organised sessions, it is the home of the WJTI coaching with 300 children receiving coaching at the weekends. The site also provides a venue for borough training, coach education and a training venue for professional players preparing to compete. The Community Tennis Centre is open 7 days/week.
