The main purpose of the role:To be a true advocate of the school’s Integrated Therapeutic Approach whereby therapists are a core member of the school staff team, working dynamically and systemically to support the education team so they can respond to young people’s communication and behaviour to reduce reliance on staff or other adults. Key duties: To assess the psychological needs of children and young people through the most appropriate strategy or approach for that person.To coordinate the individual assessment of children and young people: which may be direct involvement or supervising others to carry out (e.g. psychologist assistant)To work globally with the multi-disciplinary team co-ordinate behaviour support provision so that it is effectively delivered to meet young people’s needs.Provide summaries of progress/intervention/risk assessments where appropriate for MDT’s in advance of the meetingsParticipate in appropriate quality assurance activity, for example observations of teachers, TAs and intervention staff providing constructive developmental feedback to staff teams to support improvements in practice Our team are looking for a dynamic and forward thinking Clinical Psychologist who can support our children both individually or in a team or group setting.

Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.

Successful candidate qualities:Post graduate qualification in psychology (or equivalent)Registered and accredited with Health & Care Profession Council (HCPC) as a practitioner psychologist.Experience of working directly and indirectly with young people with Autism, severe communication difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, including physical and sensory needs. Complex mental health needs including: SEMH, ASD, ADHD and learning difficulties.Demonstrate knowledge and ability to promote the dignity and individuality of children and young people by encouraging effective communication, making choices and reducing support needsAble to deal calmly with situations that ariseAttitudes that value with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities as individuals with a right to be treated with respect What’s on offer?
