Domestic Abuse Support Worker ( Healthy Relationships) SafeNet

Job description

What you’ll be doing

We are looking for a high calibre, passionate, caring individuals who are excellent team players and are committed to providing high quality, trauma informed services for victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

As a Domestic Abuse Support Worker within SafeNet Burnley Healthy Relationships team, your role will support children and young people in schools, to help them manage any domestic abuse risks they face and increase safety, helping to create healthy relationships in their lives.

In this role of Domestic Abuse Support Worker, you will support young people in secondary schools across Lancashire, including Pupil Referral Unit’s and Special Schools, working closely with schools to ensure dynamic, engaging age-appropriate programmes.

What you’ll need to be a success

  • A clear understanding of domestic abuse and violence and the impact on children and young people, how domestic abuse affects CYP and to be able to empathise with their experience.
  • Ability to plan, facilitate, evaluate, and record group and individual sessions with children & young people.
  • Experience of delivering groupwork and sessions in a person-centred and from a trauma informed perspective.
  • A working understanding of risk assessment and safeguarding procedures.
  • Respectful, articulate and sensitive in your style of communication, having strong verbal and written skills.
  • To have excellent time management and organisational skills working on own initiative and within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
