Higher National Certificate or vocational qualifications/Certificates in an Engineering or IT discipline.
Experience:
- Solidworks or other 3D modelling platform
- A flare in Engineering illustration
- Enthusiasm, a will to learn and an ability to follow instructions
The position:
We are currently seeking a Document Controller to work in our busy Engineering Department.
The role:
An exciting and new opportunity has risen at Rota Engineering, based in Bury, Greater Manchester for a technically minded person to work in our busy Technical Department.
Reporting to the Technical Director & collaborating with Production and Inspection Departments, your day to day responsibilities are to produce and maintain project documentation ensuring that accurate information is distributed throughout our organisation, on time, to the people who need it. You will be required to work with technical drawings and Instructions in both electronic and hard copy format.
Rota is an innovative quality driven business which grows in size annually, we design and manufacture value-adding sensor technology, enabling smart hydraulic cylinder actuation, to a global customer base. We also design and manufacture hazardous area electrical connectors and interconnection solutions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The job role involves liaising with Technical and Production departments to produce:
- Illustrated Assembly Instructions using Solidworks
- Illustrated Customer Instructions using Solidworks
- Controlling company and project documentation
- Following and improving document control procedures
- Ensuring all documentation meets formal requirements and required standards
- Sorting, storing and retrieving electronic and hard copy documents
- Using computers to organise and distribute documents within the company
- Helping in the planning stages of a specific project
- Ensure documents are shared at key times to facilitate timely project completion
Essential credentials:
- Excellent team player and communicator, able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
- Good Mechanical and analytical skills.
- Word, Excel, Powerpoint skills etc.
