Job content

Cambridge University Libraries wishes to appoint a librarian to lead and manage services, collections and staff at the Divinity Faculty Library. This is an essential role supporting the teaching, learning and research activity of the Faculty of Divinity, an international centre of excellence in Theology, Biblical Studies, Religious Studies and the Philosophy of Religion.

Responsible for the delivery, development and evaluation of library services, you will manage and develop the library space, consolidate and enhance the library collection both in print and electronically in line with teaching, learning and research needs. You will direct a research skills programme, and lead a small team, comprising a Senior Library Assistant, two part-time Library Assistants, and temporary invigilator staff.

You will develop productive relationships with diverse stakeholders, including but not limited to: academic staff and professional services staff at the Faculty of Divinity, affiliated associations such as the Cambridge Theological Federation, students, researchers, and members of the wider Cambridge University Libraries network. Working closely with the Office of Scholarly Communication, you will support colleagues across Arts & Humanities Libraries in advocating for Open Research practices in the humanities.

With appropriate experience of managing and developing library services and of staff management, you will have excellent communication skills, an ability to resolve problems creatively, prioritise a complex workload, and build strong networks with a range of people and groups. You will have a postgraduate or professional qualification in library and information studies, or related fields, or equivalent experience. Previous experience in a research support role, or an academic background in Theology and Religious Studies, are useful but not essential.

Reporting to the Head of Arts & Humanities Libraries, you will join a supportive team of library staff from across the School of Arts & Humanities Libraries network, and will represent the interests of Theology and Religious Studies on collaborative committees.
