Service Care solutions are currently recruiting for a Disclosure And Compliance Officer for a role in a local police station in Penrith. This role is a Full time position - Monday - Friday till September 2021 with the high likelihood of being extended.

The main responsibilities of this role are -

  • Act as a Decision Maker in respect of requests for information received under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, liaising with Information Owners, considering applicable exemptions and the public interest test where appropriate. Ensure that responses are provided to applicants within the statutory timescale.
  • Upon receipt of a request for an internal review of the Constabulary’s handling of a freedom of information request, act as an independent reviewer, advising the applicant of the outcome as soon as possible.
  • Act as a Decision Maker in respect of requests for information received under the Data Protection Act 2018, applying exemptions as appropriate and ensuring that a response is provided to the applicant within the statutory timescale.

About you -

  • Detailed knowledge of Data Protection legislation and application of the data protection principles.
  • Detailed knowledge of Freedom of Information legislation and of applying the Public Interest Test.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Code of Practice and ACPO Guidance on the Management of Police Information
  • Detailed knowledge of 2013 Protocol and Good Practice Model - Disclosure of Information in Cases of Alleged Child Abuse and Linked Criminal and Care Directions Hearings
  • Knowledge and experience of undertaking reviews or audits
