The Director, Trade & Distribution is a field-based role that sets the strategy for assigned Specialty Pharmacy accounts and is responsible for implementing and managing the day-to-day operations of Sarepta’s Trade and Distribution channel for our existing and pipeline products. The Director engages with existing specialty distribution and specialty pharmacy partners while also implementing optimal network access for our new product launches. This role serves as the lead point of contact for all trade related activities within assigned trade & specialty accounts, including distribution contracting efforts for entire product portfolio and developing business relationships with appropriate individuals within each assigned account. The Director is expected to stay on top of market changes, competitive challenges and develop strategies and tactics to help Sarepta remain competitive.Primary Responsibilities Include
  • Direct and oversee partner activities, including all activities related to customer service; including, product handling and storage, inventory management, performance measurement for services provided by channel, audit support, and resolution of field issues (i.e., problems reported from providers/pharmacies, distributors, related to service and product access)
  • Execute strategic plans and objectives around contracting for targeted Distributors, GPOs, third party logistics, and specialty pharmacies for current products
  • Establish and execute new product distribution strategy and launch preparedness for all Sarepta pipeline products
  • Proactively identify potential marketplace trends/barriers and create strategies that will optimize access and create reimbursement confidence with providers and patients
  • Manage and maintain the infrastructure for specialty distribution of multiple rare disease infused products
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams specific to SOP’s and contractual obligations associated with distribution infrastructure, reimbursement, marketing, pharmacovigilance, supply, chain, quality assurance, patient services, legal, and finance
  • Negotiate and execute distribution contracts including oversight and management of renewals, terms of sale, revenue recognition, payment/collections for product sales with assigned specialty distributors and specialty pharmacy accounts
  • Develop long term, productive and strategic business relationships with key decision makers from assigned supply channel partners to include all channel vendor options
  • Collaborate with Sarepta Regulatory, Finance and TechOps partners on supply chain issues
  • Monitor and maintain compliance to Prescription Drug Marketing Act (PDMA), Good Manufacturing Practice, Safety Health and Environmental, Sarbanes-Oxley, business procedures, raising and addressing issues as they arise
  • Align with Finance on managing accounting, pricing, GTN, inventory, forecasting and budget
  • Ensure data integrity and adequate data flows and compliance between the company and distribution vendors and trade partners; partner with business analytics to develop and disseminate distribution related key performance indicators/analysis
  • Ensure reporting of accurate sales/shipment information to senior management
  • Perform quarterly accuracy and completeness audits for finance and external auditors
  • Collaborate with Patient services team to address patient access challenges
  • Provide field intelligence and customer feedback to field sales teams and account managers
  • Stay on top of new US supply chain regulations and industry standards and ensures supply chain activities are fully compliant with the updated regulation
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and responsibilities as needed
Desired Education And Skills
  • BA/BS required, MBA/MS preferred, or comparable experience
  • Minimum 10+ years of working in the pharma/biotech industry (prior management experience preferred); 5+ years pharmaceutical industry experience working with payer/reimbursement/wholesale/specialty distributors and specialty pharmacies; strong understanding of typical functions and procedures
  • Experience with rare/orphan diseases, IV, oral, Hospital, Buy-and-Bill, and Medicare Part D products; experience and strong understanding of building and launching distribution networks for rare diseases
  • Deep experience and strong understanding of Trade processes and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and strategic vision
  • Experience of strong partnership working with both account management and field sales teams
  • Ability to build relationships and expand company’s presence with distribution partners
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, highly visible, and dynamic environment is critical; able to work effectively with ambiguity and incomplete information
  • Ability to influence and lead across functions; operate in a matrix environment
  • Strong understanding of various distribution models and operation challenges and requirements to implement
  • Proficient knowledge with respect to the 3PL function and operations of program
  • Fundamental understanding of the various required Federal pricing programs in the market: FSS pricing, PHS pricing, State Medicaid, 340B and ASP reporting
