Exscientia is seeking a Director of Scientific IT to join our team. As the Director of Scientific IT you will be responsible for the management of enterprise scientific applications. This is a hands-on role where you will play an integral role in the strategic direction. You will oversee the development and implementation of technology ensuring it continues to evolve to the changing needs of the organisation.

The Director of Scientific IT is crucial for our continuous growth.

As the Director of Scientific IT you will be responsible for

• Experience working in a senior operational IT role
• The ability to define and agree strategic roadmaps in co-operation with vendors and business stakeholders
• Experience co-ordinating application awareness training, either directly or through managing that function
• Able to co-ordinate within a multi-disciplinary team to define and meet agreed deliverables
• The ability to deliver in a hands-on role whilst enabling an environment that allows you to move to a more strategic position
• Good technical understanding of the architectural and operational requirements of key technologies within the Drug Discovery ecosystem such as Spotfire, Pipeline Pilot, Reaxys, ChemReg etc
• Proven track record of leading service improvement and managing growth in a similar role
• Responsible for scientific application engagement with the wider business with regards to Incident and Change management
• Responsible for gathering business requirements and provide direction with regards to scientific application use within the organisation
• Technical and commercial ownership of enterprise scientific applications including vendor management and license tracking
• Proven experience of integrating and scaling a team in a comparable environment
• Co-ordinate and manage user access to data and applications through robust processes and business process engagement
• Excellent written and verbal communication and able to convey technical concepts appropriately at different organisational levels
• The ability to define and agree key KPI’s with regards to business systems and be able to drive platform stability through visibility and management of those KPIs

Desirable

• Direct involvement with ISO27001 or similar industry audit
• Experience directly interfacing with industry vendors such as Biovia, Elsevier, ChemAxon etc
• Proven track record of success in a rapidly scaling IT environment
• Evidence of working in an IT function adhering to, and leading on, ITIL best practices
• Evidence of taking a leading role in Incident and Change management
• Experience of Transition processes for taking applications from a development to operational state
