We have a new role for a Director of Global Corporate Communicationson a full-time 8-month fixed term basis.

As a Director of Global Corporate Communications, you will be responsible for protecting and enhancing Haleon’s reputation following its recent launch as an independent company 100 per cent focused on consumer health, with a clear purpose to deliver better everyday health with humanity. This will be done primarily by:

  • Building and managing relationships with the media across national and global top tier publications
  • Managing the company’s news flow, developing strategies to generate interest and land stories
  • Creating compelling external narratives around a range of corporate themes, including financial performance, ESG and HR/Culture
  • Liaising with multiple teams spanning investor relations, internal engagement, government engagement, marketing/brand and digital channels to build and execute integrated communications plans
  • Monitoring and analyzing the broader corporate and business agenda, to identify opportunities and potential risks as they relate to our business
  • Effectively planning for and responding to crises and issues before and as they arise, working in partnership with the issues management team

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing strong relationships between Haleon and top-tier media to build further understanding of the company’s strategy, performance, and corporate purpose
  • Inputting into broader group communications strategies, including the creation of integrated plans, messaging, and content development to build the company’s reputation
  • Producing and delivering proactive strategies around Haleon’s key corporate themes and news flow, and maintaining interest in these announcements over time through “content campaigns” (eg, media features, social media assets, broadcast documentaries)
  • Leveraging an established media network to land stories in line with the broader strategy
  • Where applicable, contribute to media strategy and communication plans for key corporate events such as the financial calendar, broader business updates, and campaigns
  • Being a senior, trusted counsellor for internal stakeholders including senior executives on a) the media, b) story generation and c) media handling. This would involve supporting in the delivery of briefing materials to company spokespeople ahead of media engagement, in partnership with the local market teams as appropriate
  • Identify, secure, and support top tier speaking opportunities for members of the Executive Team and effectively prepare speaking notes and other briefing materials
  • Working closely with Government Engagement teams to leverage media engagement to support the group’s public policy agenda and create awareness of self-care policy priorities
  • Working closely with digital communications colleagues to maximise digital reach of announcements across Haleon owned social and digital channels, with the regular contribution of content (blogs, images, videos, infographics etc).
  • Working closely with global teams across key markets such as EMEA and APAC to ensure consistency of messaging and alignment of local and global communications strategies

Other items to note:

  • This role sits within the Global External Communications team within Haleon’s Corporate Affairs function.
  • The role will be a key point of contact for the wider team and senior stakeholders both internally and externally, including interaction with roles up to and including CEO, CFO, and other members of the Executive Team. This means the role requires personal and professional authority to influence and gain trust.
  • The role will frequently handle highly confidential and price sensitive announcements/issues relating to business strategy including working with senior leaders and Corporate Secretariat as needed.

What are we looking for?

  • University degree – or equivalent - in a relevant field (Media/PR/Marketing)
  • Proven experience in communications in multi-stakeholder global companies or organisations, ideally with a specialism in Corporate PR/External Communications/Media Relations
  • Proven experience of working in a fast-paced, global, and matrixed organization
  • Track record of “global thinking” and delivering communications with measurable outcomes
  • Exceptional judgement and calmness under pressure
  • Strong, dynamic, highly articulate communicator with excellent writing skills, across a wide range of media (including digital)

Preferred experience:

If you possess the following in addition to the above, it would be a plus:

  • Masters’ degree – or equivalent - in relevant field (Data Management)
