We are passionate about local: local news, local entertainment, local sport, local politics and above all, making sure the local communities we cover trust us to keep them informed and inspired.

Our business is accelerating in a digital direction. Printed newspapers are still important to us - we sell about 23,000 newspapers each week - but our focus is on transforming into a digital-first news publisher. We’ve already made significant progress, acquiring over 3,000 digital subscribers in just 18 months.

Role:

The Digital Subscriptions Specialist is at the heart of this transformation project. You’ll manage our digital subscription platforms, improve user experience through experiments and gathering feedback, and be a positive ambassador for the project.

Becoming an expert in multiple web-based software platforms needs to be firmly in your comfort zone. As does creating effective digital marketing campaigns, analysing and reporting results, and driving subscriber acquisition.

What drives subscriptions? Your role is to gather intelligence and it share with colleagues. You will also have the opportunity to shape our digital strategy alongside the senior leadership team.

For the last two years we’ve been part of a programme delivered by the Financial Times and funded by Google News Initiative - you will be part of the programme, learning new skills and rolling out best practices across the business.

Skills:

This role is ideal for someone who is digital first and who wants an opportunity to further their skills in digital marketing and subscription acquisition, all whilst playing an important part in an exciting business changing project.

This role would be a great fit if you have digital marketing experience or have worked in a tech environment, however, it’s not so much about what you have done in the past - more what you can do in the future. We take pride in developing colleagues and seeing them progress in their careers.

For the right person there’s a competitive salary, incentive scheme and 34 days annual leave. The role will be hybrid working with 60% of your time spent in our Inverness office and 40% working from home. Full-time hours are 8.30am - 5pm Monday to Friday.
