The way ScreenSkills delivers its services has dramatically changed due to Covid. The organisation has rapidly transformed from a face-to-face training model to a digital one and this development continues.

ScreenSkills will need to adapt and keep pace to fulfil its remit to be the ’go-to’ place for skills and learning for people in the industry or for those wanting to start their careers. The website has a key role here.

For the website to continue and grow its service delivery function, it needs an experienced Digital Content Lead who understands and is interested in learning design. Working closely with the director of marketing and communication and the digital product owner, the Digital Content Lead will deliver a clear and joined-up digital content strategy and plan to enable ScreenSkills to deliver its business goals - including expanding the diversity of the people who benefit from its services.

Strategic leadership and stakeholder management

  • Develop relationships with key partners in the screen industries to help ensure the ScreenSkills website is the go-to destination for those entering and progressing in the screen sector, and that the website is an effective directory of useful and findable resources
  • Work with Director of Vocational skills to constantly test and better understand effective learning design
  • Work with department heads within ScreenSkills (such as the head of careers, director of HETV) to devise successful content solutions based on user needs
  • Work with the department heads to ensure that the cost of digital production is factored into their budgets
  • Work with the department heads, alongside the digital product owner, to support department heads in the intelligent use of data to set targets for service delivery
  • Work in close partnership with the director of marketing and communications and product owner to develop a strategy which ensures the website and other digital platforms deliver the business needs of ScreenSkills
  • Report to internal stakeholders to ensure the website is optimised to meet ScreenSkills business goals

Creative direction and content production

  • Work with the director of marketing and communications and digital product owner continue to evolve the navigation of the website.
  • Evolve the directory of resources and ensure it is understandable on the website
  • Work with Director of Vocational skills on an effective learning design strategy
  • Working closely with department heads and in response to user needs, continue to evolve landing pages for elearning, oversee content for careers, information for training providers and others as required.
  • Prioritise the content work against business objectives to ensure a logical timeline of work that is delivered within available resources and in a joined-up way
  • Assess the SEO strategy for website and train staff in understanding SEO and accessibility
  • Coordinate with the director of marketing and communications to ensure social media and marketing activity supports content strategy and vice versa
  • Ensure effective delegation - oversee /task-manage those within ScreenSkills who are contributing to service-delivery content
  • Work with the department heads to commission service-delivery content in line with the content delivery strategy
  • Ensure the systems through which video are created are robust and that files are managed in a safe and findable way
  • Be responsible for effective delegation and oversight of the compliance of service-delivery video
  • Ensure the branding and style guidelines are followed

  • Outstanding digital writing skills
  • Verbal communication and influencing skills, ability to secure buy-in
  • Ability to find clarity and direction in a complex multi-stakeholder environment
  • Ability to build relationships, with speed and credibility, with people at all levels (internal and external)
  • Well-developed editorial leadership skills

Knowledge and experience:

  • Experience delivering digital creative content solutions
  • In-depth understanding of digital content
  • Broad understanding of website development
  • Experience of working in a complex multi-stakeholder environment
  • Experience in managing projects with numerous moving parts, delivering to agreed timelines and budgets
  • Experience in working in a matrix environment and effective delegation
  • Experience of working in and knowledge of the screen industries
