The Role

The Development Engineer position is a challenging role, with requirements to contribute fully to all
aspects of development on existing and new ranges of medical equipment, while working to tight
commercial schedules and with minimal supervision. While an interest in medical devices would be
advantageous, a background in embedded software and electronics is of more importance.


Responsibilities:

Embedded firmware design and programming using C.
Low Power electronics design for new and existing medical devices including:
Microcontrollers.
Standard and programmable logic.
Digital and Analogue circuits.
Battery charging and power management.
Generating design documentation.
Detailed engineering test of prototypes and working with test engineers on formal verification
of completed design
Qualifications:
Essential
  • Degree qualified with at least 4 years’ experience in a product design environment
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Microprocessor firmware development experience for low power devices
  • A firm analytical and practical understanding of fundamental electronic theory.
  • Experience in both analogue and digital design through full product lifecycles
  • A high degree of self-motivation together with an eye for detail and the ability to investigate
technical concepts and problems in depth.

Desirable

  • Design and implementation of digital filters
  • Interfacing with other devices via Bluetooth and USB
  • Development of test harness and tools using C# / .NET
  • Use of circuit simulation packages
  • Schematic capture and PCB design for small form-factor products.
  • ISO 13485 or similar quality systems
  • IEC 60601 family / IEC 62304 standards
  • Previous work with medical devices
