THE COMPANY: My client are a forward thinking main contractor with a turnover in excess of £60m, with 50% of 2023 secured. Their extensive portfolio of completed schemes spans a wide range of sectors including Cutting edge carbon free buildings, Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Ecclesiastical, Industrial, Leisure and General Public works and these have been secured using a diverse range of procurement methods including substantial repeat business methods due to their non-confrontational approach. They are also included on many Framework agreements. The experienced management team adopt a ’hands on’ approach throughout the project which enables solutions and actions to be discussed at the optimum time in order to reduce delays, defects, design problems and budgetary constraints. Additionally, Health & Safety is paramount and their safety advisors ensure that all personnel are always aware of the ongoing changes to legislation and processes. ROLE: Design Manager With a retirement looming a position for a Design Manager has arisen within the company. This role will entail the successful candidate working within the Technical department whilst liaising with external consultants, architects and local authorities. Ideally, you’ll have worked for a medium to large main contractor as a design manager in the new build sector, on schemes up to the value of £10million. You’ll have a strong technical and design background with the ability to manage and advise on the design development from working drawing stages. You need to be able to work independently and as part of the team to produce within deadlines to ensure that construction is not delayed
