The client are a manufacturer and supplier of components, products andsystemsto various industry sectors. They despatch to a global customer base and, due to continued confidence in the sectors they supply into and continued success, are seeking to recruit aDesign Engineer to their team.Reporting to the Design Manager you will carry out the following dutieswithin the designteam.The main purpose of the Design Engineer role is to be involved with the concept design of specialist bespoke systems. The role will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of a range of projects, starting from initial design, working to client specifications, preparing designs for manufacture and seeing the product through to completion. To provide technical input into the business development and assist with future product development of existing and new products.Responsibilities / Job duties are as follows;
  • To design and develop new products as required and to see them through to completion
  • To design and develop enhancements to the existing product range
  • To support other departments where required on issues of a technical nature
  • The production of, and maintenance of technical documentation as required, including 3D CAD models, 2D CAD drawings, bills of materials, route cards, technical specifications, test data etc
  • To ensure that the products meet mandatory legislation and customer specific legislation
  • Testing of products - installation, collecting results and analysing data - creation of test reports
  • Carry out data analysis on supplier performance levels
As a Design Engineeryou will need to hold the following skills and experience.
  • Extensive experience in a similar Engineering or Technical Design role within a manufacturing environment
  • Extensive CAD background and preferably be fully conversant with Solidworks 2D/3D modelling and AutoCad 2D
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • SAP knowledge advantageous but not essential
  • Although the role is mainly mechanical based, any electrical design knowledge would be advantageous
  • Degree qualified
  • Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing techniques, such as sheet metal, laser and folding, cnc machining, welding, casting etc.
  • A high attention to detail
  • Have a pleasant and professional manner
Salary 30,000to 34,000 per annumThe client is based in Redditch sowould be easily commutable from Birmingham, Bromsgrove, Worcester, Solihull, Droitwich, Alcester.Benefits include;Competitive holidays, pension, life insurance, medical plan, parking, friendly and supportive team/culture.The role is Days. 7.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday.
