Job Location:Blandford, DorsetJob Type:PermanentSalary:£38,955 per annumHours:8.30am - 5pm Monday - FridayBenefits:33 days annual holiday, free car parking / tea and coffee facilities, company pension, life assurance, healthcare cash plan, employee share scheme, employee Referral SchemeAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Engineer on a Permanent basis for a well-established Manufacturer based in Blandford.Working alongside the Senior Leadership team & production you will be undertaking re-design of existing products to offer alternative methods of manufacture, materials to ensure designs into manufacture are cost effective.You will be working from concept so must have the ability to draw, design and work alongside production to ensure design concepts can be put into production from capabilities, methods of manufacture, costings and timeframes to manufacture.Key duties will include;
  • Undertake re-design, focusing on design for manufacture
  • Ensuring designs meet compliance requirements (applicable codes, statutory regulations, industry standards, policies & procedures)
  • Design development projects from concept to manufactured solutions
  • Design development of non-standard product
  • Continual improvement of established ranges through engineering changes (ECN)
  • Investigate design factors i.e., function, materials, performance, interchangeability, cost & operational efficiency
  • Preparation of material, cost & timing estimates, reports & design specifications
  • Bill of material validation, inspecting, highlighting, investigating & correcting anomalies
  • Process design changes, update drawings & manage drawing registration
  • Ensure that all drawings are correctly maintained & appropriately stored
We Would Like Our Ideal Candidate To Possess
  • Previous experience of working within Mechanical Design in a manufacturing / engineering environment
  • A good working knowledge of CAD use / packages. Any experience of Solidworks or Creo would be advantageous but not essential if you have experience of other packages
  • The ability to work well within a team or under your own initiative
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing or engineering company within a design capacity
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills both written and verbally
  • The ability to prioritise your workload
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing or engineering company is desirable
