Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

Mechanical Engineer needs to Drive and Support the projects teams in R&D across the following areas :

  • Developing design solutions to support R&D projects in-line with best practice/engineering techniques
  • Support in problem-solving activities
  • Generate new concepts for products and sub-components
  • Perform engineering calculations including stress and tolerance analysis
  • Carry-out design reviews with peers.
  • Implementation of agreed designs for release into Production, including High-Level Assemblies and component design.
  • Use Creo Elements/Pro with Windchill to create, develop, store and control designs
  • Support the generation verification protocols for components and assemblies to test and validate alternative sources of manufacture or production
  • Ensure changes follow regulations and standards including:
  • ISO13485, ISO14971, REACH, RoHS.
  • Implement and conduct testing protocols on components and assemblies.
  • Plan own workload and develop project plans to drive implementation
  • Incorporate a broad understanding of manufacturing processes into the design work
  • Generate detailed documentation, specifications, and design packages
  • Support other areas of the business including production and servicing to resolve issues
  • Input to the preparation of manuals, QA/RA submissions, sales literature and training material
  • Champion best practice, standardized use of Creo with Windchill to create, develop, store and control designs.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience in working in an R&D team to develop low-volume precision manufacturing.
  • Degree in mechanical engineering or product design.
  • Experience in design within a regulated environment.
  • Design experience in machining, sheet metal, castings, and moldings components.
  • Best practice understanding and experience of motors, bearings
  • Design for assembly, cost, and manufacturing skills.
  • 3D CAD skills.
  • Adherence to a stage gated quality system.
  • Experienced in Verification and Validation of product design for release.
  • Professional in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Good IT skills including MS Office applications.
