Design Engineer – Blandford – Salary £38,955

Our client based in Blandford is looking for a Design Engineer to join the engineering department. The main aspect of the role is to re-design products and develop this from concept right through to production. The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge & experience of design engineering and previous experience using a parametric based CAD software.

Main responsibilities:

  • Design development projects from concept to manufactured solution
  • Use engineering to continuously improve the range of established products
  • Ensure all designs are compliant with applicable codes, statutory regulations, prevailing standards and policies related to medical equipment
  • Prepare data for parts, fabrications & assemblies by using 3D/2D drawings, BOM’s & technical specifications
  • Generation of part & product specifications, product manuals & assembly instructions
  • Prepare material, cost & timing estimates and reports for design specifications
  • Maintain the Technical File (CE & Medical Devices), liaising with relevant people when required
  • Bill of material validation, inspection, highlighting and investigations
  • Contribute to the company’s engineering standards and procedures
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, production engineering, purchasing, sales and other stakeholders when necessary
  • Process design changes, update drawings & manage drawing registration
  • Ensure efficient and effective use of resources
  • Use project management skills for corrective actions, re-forecasting & reporting to ensure deadlines are met
  • Manage & report on other non-recurring activities

Requirements:

  • Experience with design development process and NPI
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and able to apply sound engineering & design to all projects
  • Experience using Creo or an equivalent parametric based CAD software
  • Analytical thinker who is numerically sound
  • Forward thinking and determined
  • Project management skills are desirable but not essential
