About us

Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.

Crisis Skylight Brent is currently recruiting Deputy Service Manager (known internally as Housing Team Leader) to join a busy housing service supporting people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in Brent. The Single Homeless Prevention Service (SHPS) is funded through the Life Chances Fund and Brent Council and is delivered in partnership with Bridges, the UK’s leading investor in Social Impact Bonds. SHPS is a service within Crisis Brent. SHPS supports local people with low to medium support needs who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to remain in their homes or access accommodation in the private rented sector. SHPS receives referrals from Brent Council of individuals who are owed a relief or prevention duty by their local authority. SHPS conducts personal housing plans, supports clients with casework to relieve or prevent homelessness and provides eight months tenancy sustainment support. SHPS currently supports around 400 people per year. The service works with a variety of statutory and voluntary organisations as well as a range of landlords to ensure beneficiaries receive timely and appropriate support to prevent and relief homelessness.

About the role

SHPS is a payment by results service based on outcomes around client assessments, prevention and relief of homelessness and sustainment of accommodation. This role requires a strong background in people, performance and data management. The Deputy Service Manager will be managing and supporting a team of housing coaches alongside the Service Manager. The role requires candidates to support the team with casework management to deliver high quality and person-centred support and ensure clients progress towards ending their homelessness. They will prepare contract monitoring information and ensure all client data and outcomes are accurate and of good quality. The Deputy Service Manager will also be dealing with property procurement and landlord liaison. Candidates are expected to create effective relationships with a range of stakeholders including the local authority, landlords and other Crisis and community services to maximise opportunities for clients.

This is a fixed term role for 12 months.
