The Acorns are recruiting for a Deputy Manager in the Lostock Hall area of Preston. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Deputy Manager to become an integral part of our support team. In this role, you will support and care for our young people and be responsible for a small staff team.

Role and Responsibilities:


  • To manage the day to day running of a residential children’s home alongside the Registered Manager.
  • Manage and take responsibility for the day to day running of a residential children’s home in the Registered Manager’s absence in line with the homes Statement of Purpose.
  • Ensure the home is run in accordance with OFSTED regulations.
  • To act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead and ensure that concerns are managed appropriately to keep the children and staff safe.
  • Maintain compliance with organisational requirements and oversee specific areas of designated responsibility regarding quality auditing.
  • Take direct responsibility for overseeing Health & Safety within the home.
  • To take part in an on-call rota.
  • Report writing.
  • Maintaining appropriate staffing ratios.
  • Completing staff supervision meetings and team meetings.
  • To lead by example and demonstrate the organisations key values.
  • To develop and maintain positive, professional working relationships with parents and other stakeholders.

A minumum Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People is essential for this role and you should be willing to study towards the Level 5 Diploma.
