Deputy Head Teacher – Land Based, Boscawen Farm, Blackwater, Truro, Cornwall

Full Time 37.5 hours per week term time 46.6 week per year.

Key purpose:

  • To assist the Head of Education, Skills & Employment to shape a clear vision and direction for United Response’s Land based projects, setting out high expectations, with a clear focus on the achievement of attendees
  • To deliver learning in a vocational way, having access to a variety of vocational activity in a relaxed, but professional setting.
  • To maintain resources and prepare and set up physical materials and equipment for land-based related activities.
  • To work in partnership with the Education and Employment leads to sustain success, standards and quality provision, contributing towards the ethos, values and vision of United Response
  • Manage the planning and delivery of the skills and training.
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead for land-based projects

Essential Criteria:

  • Post Grad Cert in Education PGCE / Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training
  • Leadership and Management Qualifications
  • Employability and supported internship experience preferable
  • Experience of developing SEND education provision
  • Experience of supervising and motivating staff.
  • To be motivated, physically active and demonstrate practical land- based activities in a professional manner.
  • Clear written and verbal communication style.
  • IT literate and confident in the use of different IT systems / packages.
  • Willing to undertake required training, sometimes off site and outside normal working hours.
  • Willing and able to travel between locations as required.
  • Available for flexible working patterns if required
  • Experience working with SEND educational commissioners
  • Experience in supporting students that display behaviours that challenge and training in de-escalation
Track record in all aspects of job coaching including employer engagement, supporting people with disabilities in work experience, supporting students into paid work and supporting staff to achieve individual goals.
