Deputy Head of Operational Compliance

At Gregory Distribution Ltd, we have a vacancy for aDeput Head of Operational Compliancebased at our CullomptonDepot.

The position will involve:

• Developing their skills and knowledge to progress into the role of Head of Operational Compliance and being coached by the current Head of Operational Compliance.
• Lead and coach a team of 3 and progress to manage the group’s operational compliance and insurance arrangements.
• Take responsibility for the Gregory group’s O-Licence and ensure as a business we are fully compliant. Oversee the administration of the Group’s O-licence and monitor and report on the Group’s O-licence compliance including OCRS points.
• Support with the implementation of DVSA Earned Recognition.
• Lead compilation, development and communication of company transport compliance manual, policies and procedures.
• Provide advice and assistance to Transport Managers and operators on transport related legislation including keeping them informed of any new or revised legislation.
• Monitor and report on compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory facilities and property requirements.
• Track the performance of all aspects of operational compliance via KPIs and proactively drive process and performance improvements.
• Influence Directors, General Managers, departmental heads and Transport Managers to ensure that the business is operating compliantly.
• Act as point of contact for enforcement agencies as required with investigations dealing with operational compliance and serious road traffic collisions.
• Lead understanding and adoption of industry best practice through networking with suppliers and industry bodies.
• Manage the relationship with the Group’s insurance broker, insurance providers and claims management service provider.
• Oversee the Group’s insurance cover and drive continuous improvement in value for money, claims reduction and claims management.
• Responsible for the Operational Compliance P&L and budget.
• This role will involve travelling to other sites within the Gregory Group.
• The Group-wide role encompasses Gregory Distribution in England and Wales, Hayton Coulthard, ARR Craib and Pollock Transport in Scotland. The Group has 3,000 employees, 1,200 vehicles and 2,000 trailers across 50 sites.
