Dental Tutor - Wessex, Dental Directorate Thames Valley & Wessex

This exciting role in Health Education England (HEE) is for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to develop, facilitate, quality assure and support the training, and workforce development of the whole dental team with a special interest in Dental Care Professionals (DCPs) in general dental practices. The post holder will be based in Wessex and work across the HEE SE Region.

The post holder will co-ordinate, plan, commission, promote and quality manage continuing professional development and supporting activities for dental education. This work demands a dynamic member of the organisation who is able to work independently. The role will rely on effective communication with a range of people, liaising with staff both internal to HEE and external stakeholders, with the ability to work well as a member of a team.

The successful candidate will be based in Southern House, Otterbourne, Winchester, SO21 2RU.

The role will involve working to the direction of the Associate Postgraduate Dental Dean for Workforceand in collaboration with dental tutors. The post holder will be required to develop work programmes, deliver training and evaluate outcomes. The evaluation of the projects will involve data collection, analysis, presenting results and report writing. The training delivered will be quality managed using existing quality frameworks developed by COPDEND and within HEE, undertaking any necessary revisions to programmes as a result of the robust evaluation of outcomes. They will be required to maintain and operate within a clinical skills facility.

An important part of the role will be a need to engage with local stakeholders especially dental care professionals. Motivating them to engage with training and upskilling them to provide high quality NHS dental care to the population of the region. This will require remaining adaptable to changing circumstances and having the ability to influence others to cope with sometimes unwanted changes to their working patterns due to changes in commissioning.

Salary Progression

Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 6 with a full-time starting salary of £33,706, with pay step increases after 2 years’ service and 5 years’ service. These salaries are offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and the HEE Pay Progression Policy and are subject to annual cost of living review.
