As R&D Global Packaging Director, Health, you’ll lead the group responsible for all packaging development. You’ll develop design ideas into innovative packaging and devices. You’ll protect our products, optimise costs, raise quality and ensure we meet regulatory standards. You’ll launch new products and enhance existing brands using new packaging technologies. In short, you’ll make our packaging more sustainable and our products more desirable.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead the Health Packaging function, responsible for all packaging initiatives across the Health BU, working closely with other Reckitt functions including R&D, Quality, Supply, Procurement and Marketing to deliver consumer preferred & more sustainable packaging across innovation and our existing product portfolio (Securing the Base & Driving Productivity), delivering projects on-time and in-full. This includes the management & delivery of many complex programs & projects and often working against very strict deadlines required to keep products on the market or keep innovation projects on track.
  • You will be responsible for leading and developing a large team of packaging specialists with a high performance and continuous improvement mindset. You will define, drive, and deliver the building of capabilities across the global packaging function.
  • You will bring new insights, approaches, and innovative technology to the business, further strengthening the packaging function as a critical strategic enabler for Reckitt brands and the overall business.
  • You will lead & represent the Global Health Packaging function in relevant leadership forums including CDO, Supply, Procurement, R&D/GRA/GSA and IMEX to drive effective strategy, prioritisation and delivery in line with the short, medium & long-terms needs of the business.
  • You will be an inspiring leader and developer of people and processes; an excellent problem solver, display high levels of agility and be a highly effective leader and partner across the business.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and standards in both traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ and e-com sales channels.
  • High levels of business acumen and organisational awareness.
  • Strong experience of project management practices and tools, including resource planning is highly desirable.

Essential Experience

  • Degree in Packaging Engineering or related field.
  • 15+ years experience of team leadership in packaging development, preferably within Supply & R&D.
  • Process and data knowledge and expertise to drive productivity improvements (experience in LEAN methodology is desirable).
  • Proven track record of leading large, high performing teams, including recruitment and development of people, organizational design and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Proven experience of leading remote teams.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of packaging materials, components and related processes (e.g. tooling, material & pack manufacturing processes, packaging assembly & filling, printing etc.).
  • Proven track record of delivering large, complex projects in a matrix organisation across the product lifecycle, including innovation, net revenue protection, sustainability and productivity initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of latest developments in packaging development technologies, including simulation and prototyping.
