Position: Head of Human Resources (England & Scotland)

Reporting to: Group HR Director

Location: Slough base with requirement to travel to other work locations

Main Purpose:

Reporting to the Group HR Director the Head of HR (England and Scotland) will be responsible for translating business objectives into people objectives. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the adaptation of Company wide initiatives into England and Scotland enhancing our employees experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the leadership team to support all aspects of the employee lifecycle such as performance management, reward and recognition, succession planning, employee development
  • Assist the leadership team in continuously analysing their departmental designs to ensure that they are constantly operating in a efficient manner to meet business requirements
  • Develop and implement HR integration strategy of acquired companies into the wider Circet Group, streamlining and synergizing department(s), systems, policies and procedures
  • Work with the leadership team to identify training needs and development opportunities for front line managers and working in collaboration with Operations to ensure the provision and delivery of such training.
  • Be an active member on the UK Senior Management Team, making suggestions on improvements to people plans and answering any questions regarding existing plans
  • Attend Director Board meeting when and if required to do so by the Group HR Director along with any other meetings as requested by the Group HR Director
  • Keep Group HR Director informed of all HR related business activities and team related matters
  • Manage, coach and develop the HR Business Partner(s)
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Group HR Admin Team and wider HR team to ensure a smooth and effective service to the business
  • Work closely with Central HR Team and other key stakeholders to ensure a joined up approach to Group level people initiatives and HR activities
  • Provide professional support, leadership and advice to Managers in relation to employment law issues and employee relation issues including resolving grievances, probation process, managing disciplinary process, absence management and performance management etc
  • Coach and support Managers on HR tools and provide them with advice, information to empower and develop them in effectively managing their team
  • Assist in developing and updating Group HR policies and procedures to ensure that legislative requirements and best practice are adhered to
  • Remain up to date with current employment legislation within England and Scotland, initiatives and best practice within HR
  • Actively participate in HR initiatives and support the role out of key / ad hoc projects as required
  • Develop and deliver an employee engagement and internal communication strategy, improving the involvement of staff in shaping and influencing the direction and culture of the organisation.
  • Responsible for preparing of people analytics reports for presentation to HR Director
  • Prepare and analyse regular and ad hoc HR related reports for presentation to the HR Director, when required to do so
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other internal departments as appropriate for the effective operation of the HR function – Health and Safety, Quality, Finance, Procurement, IT, Transport, Plant, Stores, Insurance etc.
  • Develop and maintain an open relationship with the Directors and other key personnel appropriate for the effective execution of the role.
  • Build effective relationships with appropriate external bodies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience working as a Senior HR Business Partner / HR Manager preferably within the Utilities industry.
  • Effectively able to demonstrate experience in managing a team
  • Bachelor Degree / Masters Degree in Human Resources
  • CIPD Qualification
  • Full clean driving licences as travel to other Company officers will be required
  • In date passport for overseas travel, when and if required
  • Demonstrates a range of HR generalist knowledge and experience, and has an up-to-date knowledge of employment law
  • Demonstratable commercial awareness with a people lead focus
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven record of leading a successful team
  • Strong computer skills and MS Office skills , especially word, PowerPoint, email and excel
  • Ability to work unsupervised, demonstrate initiative, strong communication, interpersonal and communication skills
  • A positive and can do attitude, motivation and a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality skills
