Job Description

To develop and implement a global medical information strategy which will provide continuous progression of the function in line with best practice and digital evolution to support global and affiliate functions.

To ensure a consistent, highly scientific and timely response to all medical information requests through the availability of global medical information content and robust global processes, systems and resources.

Ensure appropriate oversight and management of medical information vendor.

Manage the Medical Information budget. Track Medical Information performance. Lead, manage and develop a team of Global Medical Information Managers, to provide a flexible resource to support medical business needs in accordance with business priorities. Focus on accountability and ownership – constantly challenging oneself to take responsibility for continuous performance improvement and operational excellence. Work cross-functionally with Global Quality and GPS to optimise GxP compliance and coordination. Ensure Global Medical Information launch readiness and excellence for new licenses and acquisitions. Ensure appropriate support for new molecules when relevant and in line with asset strategy.

Main Responsibilities / Job Expectations
  • Lead the development and implementation of a global medical information strategy to ensure a leading function which brings internal and external value
    • Lead the patient focus across all medical information initiatives and across the functions
    • Ensure oversight of local medical information functions and global medical information audit readiness
    • Ensure oversight of the Rightfind platform and optimal journal subscription management
    • Implement multiple channels for dissemination of medical information
    • Ensure proper use of current channels of dissemination of medical information
    • Support implementation of novel channels in designated region.
    • Ensure full routing of medical information inquiries and responses
  • Lead a globally consistent, comprehensive, accurate and timely medical information service to external and internal stakeholders in line with industry standards and relevant regulations.
    • Ensure development and communication of timely, accurate responses to unique and escalated inquiries internally or in collaboration with other regional Medical Information teams and Global Medical Teams.
    • Ensure oversight of Global Medical Information support to affiliates with unique and escalated inquiries through internal expertise or in liaison with Global Medical Teams
    • Ensure that medical inquiries are managed consistently across the globe through Global processes and the provision of standard content.
    • Ensure that systems and processes are in place to ensure that AEs and PQCs are appropriately reported by Global and local teams
    • Bring harmonization and consistency in the management of medical inquiries across the globe
    • Oversee GMI manager collaboration with Global Medical Teams to define and develop medical information materials (e.g. Standard Response Letters, Frequently Asked Questions and the development of medical information content).
    Define new opportunities for medical information content in line with the needs of the stakeholders e.g. medical information appropriate for patient requests
  • Ensure effective management of the Global Medical Information Department.
    • Manage the Global Medical lnformation budget.
    • Develop, maintain and monitor performance against medical information key performance indicators.
    • Manage a team of ≈9-10 direct reports (medical information managers, specialists, coordinators, etc.)
    • Ensure SOPs drive efficiency and compliance and are algned with business processes relating to Medical Information.
  • Manage Global Medical Information vendor relationship (s)
    • Ensure contracting and compliant delivery of vendor services, including call center setup and implementation, ongoing training and reporting.
    • Collaborate with Regional team members to define medical information system and vendor requirements.
    • Monitor, assess and implement continuous improvements of the local medical information services provided through the vendor to respond to the regional/country needs
    • Work cross-functionally with the Head of Medical Affairs Systems and IT functions to ensure appropriate support and version updates of the Global Medical Information platform (MISTRAL)
Education / Certifications

Knowledge, abilities & experience
  • A medical or scientific degree is required (PharmD (or equivalent), MD preferred)
Experience
  • Proven experience in pharmaceutical Industry
  • Proven experience within medical information/communications
  • Experience leading and developing teams is required
  • Experience managing vendors and complex projects is required
  • Excellent knowledge of medical information best practices, legal and regulatory requirements, Codes of Practice, Standard Operating Practices and guidelines
  • Relevant experience in working with medical affairs
  • Relevant experience of managing global/regional projects
Languages
  • English, French is an advantage. Others an advantage.
