We are seeking Adult Day Centre Care Assistants to provide practical support in a new, bright, homely, charitable Day Centre in Chichester, West Sussex. You must hold a full driver’s licence and have access to a vehicle for this job.

Many older adults in our community have become isolated in their own homes without visitors during the pandemic. They have become very lonely, anxious, and afraid to go out since we went into lockdown. However, as restrictions are beginning to lift, and we are starting to get some "normality" back in our lives, we need your help to support older vulnerable adults in the Chichester area to socialise again.

If you have had experience working in Retail, Hospitality, Health Care, Support Work, Education, Child Care, you would be perfect to work with our clients. Maybe you have recently retired or are semi-retired, and you are thinking about volunteering to help lonely people in your community.

We are helping a highly respected national care company that has been awarded OUTSTANDING by the CQC to attract staff work in their new charitable Day Centre in Chichester. They provide support and interaction for individuals with a wide variety of needs, including dementia, physical disabilities, and social isolation.

This excellent care company specialise in providing personalised relationship-led, non-medical care to mainly private adults and supporting them to remain independent in their own homes. They understand that everyone is different and provide care packages tailored to an individual’s needs and carefully match their Care Assistants, Companions & Care Givers with their clients and ensure that every visit is a minimum of 1-hour.

Pay Rates, Hours & Benefits

  • Shift patterns will be between 07:00 – 15:00 or 17:00 – 22:00.
  • £10.50-£11.75 per hour + mileage Allowance.
  • You will receive an enhanced pay rate for Bank Holidays.
  • 16, 20, and 25-hour contracts.
  • Refer a Friend Scheme.

As a member of the Day Centre staff, you will carry out a variety of duties, some of which will include:

  • Collecting clients or dropping clients off at the Day Centre.
  • Provide companionship, support, and activities for older adults.
  • To assist with serving refreshments, light meals, and snacks.
  • Facilitate music therapy and events.
  • Support clients to go to the bathroom.
  • To treat clients, staff, and volunteers with dignity and respect.
  • Work as part of a team to promote the well-being and enjoyment of the older adults who attend daycare.
  • Encourage clients to participate in chair exercises, singing, stimulating activities, and games.

Training

As part of the onboarding process, you will receive full training in all aspects of providing care, administering medication, moving, and handling an elderly adult. In preparation for the Day Centre job, you will receive paid training in the community. You will have your own set of clients who you will visit in their own homes as their Care Giver. There is no better way to gain experience.
