The team

At Lush we are in the process of consolidating our existing data systems into a GCP (Google Cloud Platform)-led Data Warehouse to enable us to continue to deliver information to our colleagues across the business in the UK, Europe and beyond through our BI system, Looker.

As a manufacturing and retail business much of our data comes from our sales and stock systems and keeping that data flowing in a timely and reliable manner is paramount. We’re also looking to bring in more non-financial data to give us greater insight as we look to grow the business in the future. We’re looking to expand our team to allow us to continue our development work and maintain the high level of support that the business expects.

Responsibilities:

• To help develop, maintain, update and support the BigQuery and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Data Warehouses
• To help develop, maintain, update and support the ETL Python scripts used to load data into BigQuery
• To communicate with owners of the source data to ensure data quality and consistency is achieved
• To help build Looker Data Models and maintain the Looker architecture for reporting from BigQuery
• Managing and updating the various data feeds between our systems and into the data warehouse
• Creating and updating product information
• Running ad-hoc queries for end users
• Reconciliation and auditing of the data loads

Skills and experience:

• Good T-SQL skills demonstrating an ability to create and maintain BigQuery and SQL Server objects including tables, views and stored procedures
• Experience of using SQL Server 2012 or equivalent
• ETL development skills using Python scripts, SQL Server Integration Services 2012 or equivalent ETL tool
• A basic understanding of Data Warehousing methodologies
• Knowledge of Linux and GitLab would be advantageous
• Outstanding ability to communicate clearly, interpret user requirements, and formulate appropriate and pragmatic data warehouse solutions to meet those requirements
• Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure, dynamic environment
