CGI’s Secure Innovation and Advisory sector is growing fast and is looking for new team members to join its Innovation Unit; a part of the sector charged with the delivery of insights into datasets in a fast-paced, sprint-driven environment.

We are looking for people who are passionate about and comfortable with working across a wide range of technologies, working at the forefront of CGI technical innovation.



Your future duties and responsibilities
Your mission will be to support our clients, assisting UK military to law enforcement in the creation of novel solutions that aid in making and keeping our country safe.

You might be asked to provide develop proofs of concept across data, or to develop one or more such proofs of concept into an operational capability. You might be asked to identify improvements to maintenance regimes from unstructured technicians’ reports or to optimise the deployment of operational equipment to best serve the needs of its users based on availability and historical demand.

You may be the only person assigned to a piece of work, or you may be leading or working as part of a delivery team. You will likely become involved in the bidding process – responding to client requests for CGI capability statements - and outlining our approach to solving their challenge.

Our engineers are technically focused, taking responsibility for software development/integration and understanding how software behaviour might be influenced by the environment in which it runs. They are able to demonstrate their technical skills across a number of disciplines, and relish the opportunity to increase and share their skills and knowledge. They proactively take the lead in analysing and solving problems; taking preventative actions as appropriate; investigate and propose solutions to challenges, seeking guidance for more complex issues; apply standards and best practice, taking pride in all aspects of their work.



Required qualifications to be successful in this role
We are looking candidates for this role who can demonstrate a strong maths / engineering background, are experienced with databases (SQL and NoSQL), exhibit skills such as the application of Machine and Deep Learning and more traditional optimisation algorithms to the understanding of data, and who are familiar with visualisation techniques including the use of AR or VR technologies.
These will likely be complemented by a solid understanding of programming in Python supplemented by other languages relevant to the field of data science.

This is a big pair of shoes to fill, we know, and we do understand that we’re unlikely to find candidates with feet quite the right shape and size to be a perfect fit! The truth is though that we’re never quite sure what the next challenge will be so we need to be prepared for all eventualities. A willingness to learn, a “can-do” attitude and an aptitude and passion for technology and data will therefore complement specific skillsets or qualifications.

Due to the secure nature of the clients we work with, you will need to hold or be able to secure a UK Security Clearance or above and to be solely UK National.
