THE JOB ROLE

Customs Asst -

assist in all areas of customs activity, directing and supporting multiple third-party brokers in order to ensure the timely customs clearance of goods

Main duties and Responsibilities:

• Act as an escalation point for ad-hoc classification queries from third-party broker and classification team
• Own and manage classification database and perform ad-hoc classification (including food classification)
• Coordinate with vendors to drive documentation compliance
• Conduct audit of classification for completeness and accuracy
• Monitor broker performance and SLA’s and report on this
• Build daily work queues for third-party broker for classification
• Support daily compliance log to retrieve information from vendors where necessary
• Update broker on standing instructions, trade arrangement and customs regulations
• Support auto-classification initiative

ESSENTIAL: Interested candidates, must have worked in a similar role previously.

• Knowledge of customs requirements and formalities with particular focus on UK & EU imports
• Classification experience is essential (EU’s Common External Tariff)
• Familiarity with preferential arrangements and origin requirements is desirable
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel
• Be available immediately and commit to to 4/5 months
• be able to commute to Watford
