Business Overview

ABS is a world-leading bovine genetics company, part of FTSE 250 biotech group Genus plc. We supply high-quality breeding animals with desirable characteristics to farmers, enabling them to produce better quality meat and milk more efficiently and sustainably. We do this by analysing animals’ DNA and looking for markers that we know are linked to desirable characteristics for farmers, such as feed efficiency, disease resistance, and growth rate. We then select animals with the strongest genetic profile from our proprietary and partner herds and breed them to produce even better offspring, for distribution to our customers.

Genus ABS has developed and launched a proprietary technology that enables us to process semen for desirable traits, such as female sex for the dairy market (to produce dairy cows), and leading in vitro breeding technologies. In our R&D programmes we are investigating novel gene editing technologies to create significant value for farmers and food value chains
