Job Description


Taylor & Francis Group currently have an exciting opportunity for two Customer & Sales Data Analysts within the Research & Analytics Department. The roles will contribute to the provision data and insights to inform the strategic decision making and evidence-based practice of Taylor & Francis Group staff.

The roles will focus on providing datasets, dashboards, reports and analysis based on data relating to sales, electronic usage, and customer profiles to support our Sales & Marketing teams. We are looking for one analyst to primarily support the books teams and one the journals teams, but there is likely to be some cross over and responsibilities cover between the roles. The successful candidates may also, on occasion, be required to help-out with other areas covered by the department such as bibliometrics, surveys and marketing and web analytics.


Responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and development of in-house business intelligence dashboards based on business requirements
  • Compiling, analysing and presenting data from multiple sources for both regular and ad-hoc reports
  • Highlighting trends and opportunities and making recommendations for action based on findings
  • Anomaly investigation and data reconciliation
  • Becoming an expert super-user of the various relevant in-house and external reporting systems and contributing to their development through change requests and testing new reports/data sets
  • Presenting results of analysis to internal stakeholders

  • Running internal training on reporting systems/dashboards and supporting on-going use through provision of user-guides, videos and FAQs along with responding to user queries

Qualifications


The ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience in gathering and interpreting business data requirements, translating these into BI Dashboards, strategic analysis or system change requests
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis. Ability to compile, extrapolate, interpret and communicate data from multiple sources & to use data/market knowledge to spot and investigate data inconsistencies/anomalies in own and others work
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent data visualisation and presentation skills
  • Proactive mindset. Looks for areas where insight provision could be done more efficiently or enhanced based on known business priorities
  • Proven ability with some or all of the following IT systems/languages: Advanced Excel, Microsoft PowerBI, Excel Power Query, SQL, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and languages as necessary


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of academic books and/or journals publishing industry.
