Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

This role is within our Energy Operations department in Customer Onboarding, reporting to the Head of Customer Transfers. The Customer Onboarding Department incorporates Customer Transfers and Housing Partnerships and is responsible for ensuring that our members experience a smooth journey when joining SSE/OVO; we aim to achieve this by utilising a data driven strategy, using cutting edge techniques to generate solutions which are high in impact whilst low in cost.

You will be tasked with interrogating our data to generate insight into where we can make tactical decisions to improve the processes and reporting across the department. In the short term the focus will be on helping to develop the Housing Partnerships data and analytics - this is an opportunity to make a lasting change to the onboarding experience of our group members and providing an excellent service to our external commercial partners, helping them provide a vital service to their tenants, while growing our member base.

You will lead a small team of Analysts and ensure the team delivers BI developments and data engineering solutions


What will I be doing?

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing high-quality data analysis including the production of KPI/OKR dashboards, alert metrics and regulatory reports.
  • Transforming large amounts of data into digestible and actionable insight.
  • Owning and improving onboarding data exception reporting. Providing insight into root causes using the manipulation of data from multiple systems and sources.
  • Working collaboratively with the Technical Operations specialists across Energy Operations to deliver on our departmental objectives.
  • Engaging with upstream and downstream stakeholders to ensure data flows are efficient, accurate and timely.

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you will have:

  • 2 years experience in a senior analytical role, with experience providing key recommendations to stakeholders and leading analysts.
  • Strong data manipulation skills, able to identify discrepancies and validate data to ensure accuracy.
  • Experienced in ETL/ELT development.
  • Expert SQL developer (T-SQL) - experienced in Stored Procedures and complex SQL techniques in a data warehouse environment
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience of data modelling techniques.
  • Experience of monitoring and optimisation of scheduled tasks.
  • Experience in developing or maintaining a robust process to consistently apply business rules to available data
  • Ability to scrutinise outcomes and develop workarounds to ensure rules continue to be applied correctly
  • Good communication and requirements gathering skills - what they ask for and what they want are not always the same thing.
  • Experience of BI Reporting tools (preferably Power BI & DAX)
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills (ideally including power query / power pivot)
  • Advanced, practical knowledge of SQL (complex queries across multiple tables/projects).
  • The ability to contextualise and simplify complex data for a variety of audiences.
  • Programming experience (Python, R or similar)
  • Highly analytical, meticulous and superb attention to detail.
  • Experience in an energy operations environment.
  • Delivered reporting in a regulated environment.
