Customer Analytics Manager

- 21000WZK)

In a nutshell

Sainsbury’s Bank is in the enviable position of having access to a rich retail dataset, shopping data from millions of Sainsbury’s customers. At this level of granularity, the dataset is essentially untapped and utilising it is a key pillar of our strategy.

Your team will use this data to identify deep insights about Sainsbury’s customers that are relevant to, and actionable by, Sainsbury’s Bank. You’ll deliver these insights, communicating them in a compelling way to the key stakeholders in our Customer division and beyond. The projects you work on will lead to the development of critical new approaches to marketing and product innovation, turning your ideas into real life solutions that create a great customer experience.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading, managing and developing your team
  • You’ll be our subject matter expert on data-led customer insight generation
  • Developing and driving forward the team work plan, based on your experience, findings and in line with Sainsbury’s Bank broad aims for the dataset
  • Identifying valuable insights about our customers that we can build our product proposition and marketing approaches around
  • Developing and owning the approaches used to generate insights
  • Communicating insights across our Customer division, persuading your peers in other business functions of the associated value
  • Driving the development of new approaches and processes, ensuring these are utilised effectively within the team, identifying continual areas of improvement

What you need to know and show

  • Experience managing an analytical team
  • Experience of deriving actionable insights from large datasets
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills. The insights you and your team derive from the data will be instrumental in changing the way we build and market our product proposition, and as such the onus will be on you to persuade people of their value
  • Experience with a range of analytical tools, for example Python and R
  • An enquiring and curious mind, backed by scientific rigour. Success in this role will be a result of identifying the right, detailed questions to ask, while fully understanding and documenting the answers, as opposed to simply following a pre-defined process
  • Strong relationship management skills
