This exciting Programme is your first step towards becoming a Skilled Aircraft Fitter. Through the three-year Programme, you will gain an NVQ 3 Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering and a National Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering. You may also have the opportunity to obtain an additional Electrical Unit at a Level 3.
On completion of our 38 month Programme you will become a Skilled Aircraft Fitter. You will either work on the drill off and assembly of both metallic and composite components of the wing box structure, or you will work on the installation and testing of the Aircraft flying controls, fuel and electrical systems.

An Airbus Manufacturing Aero Apprenticeship (Craft) offers you the opportunity to gain qualifications with no fees, whilst acquiring new skills through vocational training, and a regular salary.
What you will be doing:
Your first year on this Manufacturing Aero Apprenticeship Programme will predominantly be spent at our partner college (Coleg Cambria) to achieve the Level 2 Foundation course; learning about engineering operations, and achieving a number of technical units towards your national diploma.
Once the foundation phase is complete, our Apprentices move into the Manufacturing Plant facility at our site in Broughton near Chester, to work alongside our skilled fitters and operators. Here you’ll learn a range of different skills and methods which will enable you to complete your level 3 vocational qualification.
Skills:
In order to be eligible for this exciting apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:
  • Five GCSEs at Grade C or 4, which must include Maths, English Language and Science (either core and additional/double award, or physics).
  • We can also consider other qualifications such as Engineering BTEC Level 2, Engineering Diploma, Principle Learning, PEO Level 2 and Pathways to Apprenticeships as two GCSEs. Alternative qualifications must be in addition to the core GCSE subjects stated above.
  • Or equivalent qualifications
Please note that you must also include a cover letter as part of your application for this Programme which demonstrates your interest in aerospace and motivation to join the Apprenticeship Programme.
