We currently have an exciting opportunity for a CPRD Senior Contracts Managerto join ourClinical Practice Research Datalink teamin theSafety and Surveillancegroup.

This is a full- time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. We are currently implementing a hybrid way of working, with many colleagues working a minimum of 4 days per month in the office, building up to a minimum of 8 days over the coming months. The remainder of time can be worked remotely, or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

The MHRA is transforming, creating a progressive, responsive and sovereign regulator of medical products that is a fundamental requirement to achieve the innovation set out in the UK Life Sciences Vision. The new Safety and Surveillance Group brings together into a single integrated structure devices and medicines safety expertise with enforcement capabilities. These functions will be supported by our data and evidence generating capabilities complementing our signal generating capabilities produced via the new Safety Connect System.

Part of the Safety and Surveillance group, The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), jointly sponsored by the Agency and the National Institute for Health Care Research (NIHR), is the UK’s preeminent research service providing access to anonymised NHS data for research. In addition to supporting high quality observational research, CPRD has developed world leading services based on using real world data to support clinical trials and interventional studies.


What’s the role?

The CPRD Senior Contracts Managerrole offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the UK Government’s premier data-driven research service.The post holder is responsible for providing effective contracts management for the range of services provided by and supplied to CPRD, in order to protect the business interests and reputation of CPRD. Responsibilities include drafting bespoke contracts to support CPRD’s evolving research services; leading on negotiation of contracts with CPRD’s wide range of stakeholders; and effective governance and post-signature management of contracts.

The post holder manages the contacts team and reports to the Senior Contracts Team Leader and is a senior level contracts specialist with extensive experience of intellectual property law and governance relating to the use of clinical data in research.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead on contract negotiation with CPRD’s stakeholders
  • Protect CPRD’s reputation and business interests
  • Post-signature management of contracts and legal documents
  • Support business improvement and Stakeholder management

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will be an expert negotiator, reaching resolution through a collaborative approach to deliver business objectives and will have extensive experience of leading on drafting and negotiating effective research and business contracts. You will also have knowledge and understanding of intellectual property and data protection legislation and governance relating the use of patient data in research, including GDPR.

The successful candidate will have excellent written communication and analytical skills with the ability to concisely and clearly present an organisation’s legal position and will also be a good team player, working closely with colleagues to deliver organisational objectives. Self-motivated, with a strong sense of personal accountability, ensuring tasks, projects and issues are appropriately dealt with to their successful delivery or conclusion.
