South Derbyshire - COVID-19 Marshals
RSMS are looking to engage suitably experienced individuals to take on a role as a RSMS COVID-19 Marshal where you will provide a professional, smart and high-visibility patrolling presence in Swadlincote town centre in order to ensure the safety of local residents and that the latest government guidance is being followed.
The successful candidate must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to manage conflict and difficult situations. You will also be required to work with other partners within the council, the voluntary sector and police whilst providing a frontline service addressing community concerns.
You will be required to undergo training prior to deployment, delivered through our training team and there will be continuing professional development whilst deployed on the engagement.
You will be provided with a professional overt uniform for patrolling.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
Our COVID-19 Marshals will encourage social distancing measures, providing:
- Advice and education to business and the public;
- Capturing and reporting evidence and intelligence of non-compliance;
- Conducting business compliance inspections;
- Moving groups on that are ignoring the current regulations;
- Ensuring compliance of local COVID-19 regulations with the public and businesses;
- Dissemination of information on best practice;
- Monitoring of signs and physical measures to ensure compliance; and
- Work closely with other multi-agency partners (Police, community safety, environmental).
- Acting as ‘eyes and ears’ on the ground; COVID-19 Marshals are responsible for advising on any breaches of social distancing and where necessary, reporting ongoing problems for further intervention.
Person Specification:
Recent experience within a law enforcement role is essential.
The post holders need to be physically fit as they will be on their feet for up to 80% of their shift and be prepared to work in all weathers.
Someone who enjoys working with members of the public but who has the confidence to lead, mediate, negotiate and be diplomatic in what can be challenging circumstances.
All roles will be subject to DBS clearance.
Hourly Rate: £12.60 PAYE (including holiday roll-up)
Location: Swadlincote town centre
Deployment Hours Required;
Tuesdays 09:00 – 17:00hrs
Fridays 09:00 – 15:00hrs
Saturdays 10:00 – 17:00hrs
Sundays 10:00 – 16:00hrs
Weekly total:27 hours
Total project term:End of August 2021 - likely to be extended until 2022
