About the role.

Working on-site at HMP Stocken, we are looking to recruit Cover Tutors that can do more than just support with the delivery of qualifications but can help engage and inspire students that have had little or no prior education. They work with our Education Managers, Team Leaders and other PeoplePlus staff to familiarise themselves with the curriculum and individual schemes of work. They provide supply cover across a range of Vocational areas. This will involve assessing the learning and skills needs of individual offenders with a view to improving their employability skills along with contributing to the review of individual offender’s progress in meeting their learning and skills needs throughout their sentence.

Have you got what it takes?

You should have a passion for what you do along with relevant and recent experience. You should have high ethical standards and take personal accountability for everything you do and always look to be the best. Ideally you will need to hold an appropriate teaching qualification along with Functional Skills delivery experience. You should be able to display a wide range of training methods to engage learners from all backgrounds, including learners with significant barriers to employment and training. You will need to be empathetic with an understanding of the challenges teaching in Advice. You will need to be confident when using a diverse range of presentation, facilitation and communication skills and can handle challenging situations whilst remaining calm and in control especially in a group situation.
