About This Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Country Risk Analytics Specialist

In This Role, You Will
  • Evaluate less complex country risk and assigns country risk ratings, prepares timely country risk reviews, and monitors country risk on an ongoing basis.
  • Communicate relevant issues to other risk managers, support officers, and senior management.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Wells Fargo’s strategies and products in foreign markets, with particular emphasis on risk considerations through regular interaction with lines of business active in foreign markets.
  • Develop and maintain communication with internal and external contacts, participates in international forums (IIF, RMA), and meets with economic, banking, and regulatory experts in respective regions.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven good experience in preparing insightful, forward-looking country/sovereign risk, macroeconomic and financial analysis, ideally at a financial institution, rating agency or leading independent research firm.
  • Degree in international economics, finance, business or international relations (Master’s degree or equivalent preferable).
  • Very strong business writing skills.
  • Fully conversant in MS Office suite.
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment with a demanding workload.
  • Understanding of capital markets products and the use of market indicators as risk metrics (such as CDS spreads, sovereign yields, currencies etc.).
  • Familiarity with collating and analyzing macroeconomic data from source (e.g., central banks, statistics agencies etc.).
  • Geographical experience with/interest in covering APAC economies.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Proven experience operating in an international environment, with experience in international economic and world political affairs.
  • Econometric/economic modelling and/or economic forecasting experience.
  • MBA, CFA, or equivalent. Recommended course work includes: macroeconomics, financial markets, business finance, financial accounting, and statistics.
  • Experience with borrower credit underwriting and credit scoring grids.
  • Familiarity with loan products, trade-finance instruments, and risk mitigation tools.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg.
  • Fluency in at least one foreign language.
