Overview

The Corporate Communications Director is responsible for leading the Communication function with overall responsibility for all media relations and corporate communications in the UK. The role demands a close working relationship with all other departments in-house and with key external stakeholders. The person is responsible for managing the company’s overall reputation in the UK market.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the communications function in the UK business
  • Being a member of Regional Management Team and advise the team on critical and ongoing internal and external communications issues
  • Ensure all communication plans and strategies are in place for all key projects
  • Establish and maintain good relations with key stakeholders and media in the UK
  • Ensure that we constantly seek knowledge of possibilities within the fast changing digital world
  • External monitoring in media and communication topics
  • Plan for and execute crisis communications
  • Creating and maintaining good relations with our local talent
  • Closely working with SVP Communications EMEA, Senior Director Communications EMEA and other departments in Discovery to secure alignment and best possible result for the company

Requirements

  • Experience from leading a communications team, preferably from a PR department, agency or media outlet (as journalist or editor) in the UK
  • Strong strategic and creative abilities, excellent communication skills
  • Native fluency in English
  • Able to develop new and innovative ideas to enhance our PR activities
  • Understanding of new trends in the media industry
  • In-depth knowledge of press ethics and press regulations
