The main purpose of the role is to support the Control Systems Integration team on a large and heavily regulated project. This will involve fault finding, primarily with Siemens S7 PLCs, using Tia Portal. You will be an experienced Control Systems / Instrumentation Engineer with good hands-on experience and with an ability to create and amend ladder logic. You may be a full lifecycle PLC Systems Engineer or a Maintenance Engineer with excellent PLC fault-finding skills who has written some PLC programs from scratch and wants to develop into a Control Systems Engineer. Role Description:
  • Development of control system design and options from customer requirements
  • Siemens S7 programming of control systems (within TIA Portal) from given designs
  • Siemens S7 Fault-finding, problem solving and modifying code within TIA portal
  • Supporting the team with involvement throughout whole software/systems lifecycle, from design through coding to testing, installation and configuration, and documentation (working throughout to full QA procedures)
  • Working within project team to customer deadlines
  • Installation and configuration/testing work at customer sites Essential Requirements:
  • In depth knowledge of S7 system design and fault-finding (TIA Portal & S7-1500 PLCs)
  • Knowledge of Profibus DP/Profinet networks
  • Engineering / Computer related or appropriate engineering qualification (degree, HND, HNC or recognised Apprenticeship) or comparable industrial experience
  • Must be able to obtain SC Clearance
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience to fulfil requirements of this post
  • Good client facing skills, must be able to work as part of combined client/contractor team Desirable Skills:
  • IEC61131 PLC Coding Standards
  • IEC61508 Safety Systems
  • Integration of the Multi-PLC systems
  • Commissioning experience with S7 systems
  • Experience of working in the Power Generation Industry or similar regulated industry
