As part of SSE, which is investing £24bn this decade, we’re at the forefront of the energy transition - so come join us as we continue to grow and power change.To find out more, read this blog from Catherine Raw, our Managing Director, on our critical role in delivering net zero.About The RoleBase Location: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Perth, Leeds or DublinSalary: £44,100 - £66,100 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableAs a Control Systems engineer you’ll be responsible for providing technical expertise in order to manage the medium to long term integrity of high-risk operational assets and new build projects within your area of expertise, where failure would have a major impact on safety; environmental; and commercial operation of the business.
  • Responsible for design sign off for Process Safety and control Engineering solutions including SIL determination, design, implementation and life cycle management of Functional Safety Systems.
  • Review of Capital Projects all aspects for Control and Protection Design, Delivery, Commissioning and Operation.
  • Regulated monitoring of processes, covering but not limited to CEMS, Electrical and Gas Metering, product quality.
  • Human Factor impacts and Person Machine Interfaces through regulation, safety and standards.
  • Process system integration and communications including Data management, Cyber Security, System architecture.
What do I need?To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
  • The applicant should have process control background.
  • Higher level education or relevant industrial experience.
  • Knowledge of Control system design and topologies with associated benefits of these designs.
  • Functional Safety and Cyber Security experience would be an advantage although training will be supplied.
  • Good communications and report writing skills.
