Legal Services has an opportunity for a committed and hard-working full time paralegal on a temporary contract (fixed term for up to 1 year)

The team is ordinarily located at the Council’s modernised offices at County Hall in Trowbridge, easily commutable from Bath and Bristol. Since Covid-19 we have been home based (until further notice).

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Paralegal to join our busy Legal Support Contentious team.

About The Role

This is a vital role primarily supporting the busy Dispute Resolution and Litigation legal team. The role involves providing day to day legal support for and working with our busy lawyers on litigation and child care files and preparing court bundles via the use of the IKEN database and court bundling software.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide general legal support in their respective field, this work may involve liaising with the court and parties in civil court matters, organising files, legal research and working independently as well as part of a team. A significant proportion of the role involves assisting the lawyers with the more routine elements of legal proceedings and preparing legal documentation necessary to progress matters to hearing/completion. The work is often pressurised with competing deadlines. You will need to have excellent I.T. skills, be able to prioritise effectively and to work quickly and accurately.

This post sits within the wider Legal Support Contentious Team and the post holder may be asked to provide cover in the areas of Child Care, Adult Care, enforcement and Dispute Resolution.

About You

The successful candidate should ideally have legal office experience, at least 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above, including English Language. A Levels, Cilex papers and/or a degree are also desirable.
