Applications are invited for a consultant in Palliative Care, working across the Portsmouth and Southeast Hampshire Locality Delivery System. Employed by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and working with Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHUT), Rowans Hospice Charity and Solent NHS Trust.Joining the existing three consultants and two specialist doctors, this expanding rotation will serve the two community specialist palliative care teams serving Portsmouth and Southeast Hampshire (population c.600k), Queen Alexandra Hospital palliative care team (1200 beds) and Rowans Hospice services (19 in-patient beds), H@H, Living Well Centre & other services. The existing medical team also includes two Specialist Registrar posts, two GP VTS, two FY2 trainees and 2+ specialty doctor posts who maintain a 1 in 5 or less first on-call hospice rota.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will join an established team of experienced consultants in providing specialist palliative care. Whilst providing support and education to colleagues in training.The post holder will support the off-site senior on-call rota which is currently 1 in 5 weekdays and weekends. This provides 2nd on-call cover for the Hospice in-patient unit and 1st on for Hospice at Home, community, and Portsmouth Hospitals Trust providing advice (experienced Specialty Drs often take these calls).We value enthusiasm and/or experience. Peer support, mentorship (both formal and informal) and a naturally cohesive team provide optimum conditions to develop specialist interests or to take on leadership roles. It is hoped that one successful candidate will develop a role as the Medical Lead for the Palliative Care Service at PHUT. Another, the role of Medical Director, Rowans Hospice Charity as concurrently advertised on NHS jobs.   • MB BS or equivalent
  • MRCP UK, MRCGP or equivalent
  • On the GMC Specialist Register via CCT proposed CCT date must be within 12 months of interview or CESR
  • Full Registration with the GMC with license to practice
  • Valid medical indemnity insurance
