Main duties of the job

The appointee will also contribute in part to the general workload of the department (according to specialty / interest) including the teaching of radiology trainees, undergraduate students, and other radiology and hospital staff. There will be contribution to an on-call rota which benefits from the services of an overnight and weekend outsourcing company and home tele-radiology. Nuclear Medicine & PET-CT lends itself by nature to flexible home working arrangements, including reporting from home using modern reporting workstations. A new GE SPECT-CT scanner has been installed recently at the Wrexham site, with facilities to collaborate with radiographers remotely being provided. Links with tertiary centres are encouraged and the post holder will have the opportunity to forge links with other radionuclide imaging departments in the North West and the Midlands.

Networking with radionuclide radiologists throughout Wales is also particularly encouraged, with links already being strengthened with colleagues at Cardiff and West Wales. BCUHB also provides MSK SPECT-CT imaging for the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. We have strong links with the University of Wales, Bangor giving candidates further opportunity to develop research links and / or teaching links.
