We are pleased to receive applications for a substantive consultant in haematology based at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey.

The consultant team of 6 has day to day responsibility for haematology patients admitted to G1 ward, which has single room ensuite facilities, with a well staffed chemotherapy day unit adjacent to the ward. The inpatient cohort is BSH level 2b. Out of hours on-site cover is provided by the medical team ’on-take’, with advice from the consultant haematologist on call. Frimley Health is not a Haemophilia Centre.

This post would particularly suit a well-rounded and keen individual with some consultant level experience or approaching CCT, who is a good team player and would like to work in a busy, thriving DGH with a supportive and enthusiastic team of colleagues. If you are comfortable working as part of an innovative team, with an enthusiasm for haematology, then you will flourish at Frimley Park.

This is a replacement Consultant Haematologist post to join a dynamic and cohesive team of 4 other NHS and 1 military Consultant Haematologists based at Frimley Park Hospital, the wider FHFT team including a further 6 haematology consultants on the Wexham Park site. The job is a full-time post comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). The on-call rotation will be to provide cover out of hours and weekends 1:6 at Frimley Park, with approximately one-fifth of these being ‘second on call’ to provide advice to the StR3+ trainee as required. This cover is for clinical and laboratory on call for the Frimley Park catchment area.

Frimley Park Hospital is a busy 700 bedded district general hospital serving a catchment area of more than 410,000 covering areas of Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. It has a full range of services and is a tertiary referral centre for Vascular Surgery, Stroke, Interventional Radiology and primary PCI. There is a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, with a helipad and a focus on trauma care. These reflect the Trust’s objectives, including providing hyper acute stroke services to the local community.
